So I figured that if we're going to start taking in alot of the community, especially since LANs aren't exactly York's pasttime, I should probably put up a rules sheet (for LAN newbies), and a set of guidelines so everyone knows what they should bring. Even if you're a LAN veteran, you should probably give this page a once-over... couldn't hurt, right?

Rules

  • Be kind and courteous. I'm not asking you to be a saint here, just be nice to people. Jerks get kicked out of LANs. We want people to return to BurningLAN, and to tell their friends, so that we get a bigger turnout, and therefore a better event. We don't mind smack talk, but if you become a nuisance, we kick you out.
  • Respect the staff. We're here to help you out. Being hostile towards a staff member will get you kicked out, so just don't do it. If a staff member asks you to do something, it's probably in your best interest, so just go with it. If you have problems, ask for the coordinator. We try to accomodate everyone the best we can.
  • Keep out of other people's stuff. You might think it's funny to steal someone's <insert item here>, but it's the staff that has to feel the aftermath of the angry gamer who comes to us and threatens to sue. If you're caught in someone else's stuff, we'll pat you down and kick you out. Period.
  • No hacking, or otherwise cheating at any game. Tournament or not, if you're caught hacking, we will (quite literally) disconnect you, rip your computer, and throw it in the parking lot. I'm not kidding. Hackers get PERMABANNED. Banned for life (although, you wouldn't have a reason to come back without a computer...)

Guidelines

  • All BurningLAN events are BYOC. You MUST bring your own computer or console. Otherwise you'll probably be kinda bored unless someone else lets you use theirs.
  • Power strips and ethernet cables are provided on a limited basis. You really should bring one if at all possible.
  • Each person is limited to TWO OUTLETS (Computer/Monitor, Console/TV), or $1.00 per extra outlet. This pricing is subject to availability.
  • Some software will be provided, but not all. Retail games must be brought. If you would like a specific game server set up, ask a staff member and we'll see what we can do.

Thanks for taking the time to read through that. There is a print button at the top of the page if you would like to print a printer-friendly copy of this page. Otherwise, we'll see you at the LAN!
