Hey guys,

I know alot of you have been wondering and asking me about the mini-events, so I thought I'd give you an update.

The name of these mini events is now officially:

SparkLAN

The SparkLAN events are going to be completely tournament-centered. None of the happy crap of the larger events. It is going to be restricted to the Xbox players only, as we obviously have a larger population of 360 players than that of the PS3. Now, when I say tournament-centered, I mean that registrations will be in teams. The teams will pay as one unit (so it would probably end up being something like $60 per team if it was a 4v4), and they will be awarded prizes as a team.

As I said at BurningLAN, these events will be much more frequent than the large events, probably landing in the "once every two weeks" range. Because they're tournament-centered, they'll only last a few hours, after which everyone can go home with some decent money. Each event will be centered around a single game, and prizes will be substantially larger than the big events. I'm talking a few hundred dollars, as long as the required number of teams show up. Also, we are NOT capping the prizes. Every team pays, and most of their entry goes into a pot. So, obviously, the more teams that come, the bigger the prizes get. Lets look at an example of a 3v3 Call of Duty 4 tournament:

EXAMPLE EVENT

$60 per team.

$10 goes to the venue, the rest into the pot.

10 teams show up. $50x10=$500.

75% to 1st place = $375/3 = $125 per person

2nd will get the rest = $125 collectively

3rd gets free entry to the next event

Pretty sweet deal, if you ask me. That's a massive gain over what you paid to get in, whenther you get 1st or second.

As of right now, nothing is officially scheduled or decided. I'm going to get my staff together to discuss possible dates and times, as well as some of the issues that you guys care about, like... prizes, games, gametypes, etc. For these decisions, we would love some input from the Xbox players. So, drop us a comment, or post on the forums, and tell us what you think!

Are you willing to pay $10 for 3-man team registrations if it means better prizes?
